Singapore-based Meinhardt has recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport and Urban Development (JOIN) to jointly work on digital and smart city initiatives in underdeveloped Asean countries. As per the press release on January 17th, the collaboration aims to promote sustainable and innovative urban solutions through the sharing of knowledge and resources between the two parties. JOIN will leverage its extensive network and expertise in supporting the export of infrastructure by Japanese companies, while Meinhardt’s expertise in comprehensive planning, design, and project management solutions will also play a crucial role, states the company.
JOIN is a public-private fund in Japan that helps in facilitating investments by Japanese corporations in international infrastructure projects. This collaboration has been built upon the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) signed in November last year between Singapore Cooperation Enterprise and Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism to encourage the growth of digital and smart cities in Asean and other regions.
Meinhardt emphasizes that this MOU will act as a platform for both parties to exchange information, identify common interests and collaborate on projects right from the early stages to achieve significant progress globally.
