Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has announced that Violet Oon, a renowned Peranakan restaurant owned by chef, restaurateur and food writer Violet Oon, has been awarded the tender for a single-storey conserved building located at 7 Dempsey Road. This subsidiary of Violet Oon, known as Halo Concept, submitted the highest bid of $52,615 per month out of a total of eight bids received.
7 Dempsey Road is situated in the highly sought-after Dempsey Hill lifestyle cluster, which is known for its upscale restaurants, cafes, retail stores and services. The building has a land area of approximately 6,723 square feet and an estimated gross floor area of 6,190 square feet.
The tender for the building was launched on January 24 and was based on a combination of quality and price. The lease period for the building will be for 5+4 years.
According to Halo Concept, the new Violet Oon at 7 Dempsey Road will feature a unique indoor and outdoor dining concept, complete with a mobile cooking studio. The other bids received for the site ranged from $20,000 to $33,295 per month. The second highest bid of $33,295 per month was submitted by two parties: Culinary Arts and Urban Group, both based in Singapore. Urban Group is known for operating the Contemporary Melting Pot & Bar (CM-PB), which is currently the tenant of the building at 7 Dempsey Road, according to their website.
