Singapore Ranked Sixth Top City Brand World Brand Finance Global City Index

The latest Brand Finance Global City Index has ranked Singapore as the sixth-highest city in the world in terms of branding. Conducted by Brand Finance, a London-based brand evaluation and strategy consultancy, the index measures city brand power and perceptions.

The survey, which was conducted across 15,000 individuals in 20 countries in September, asked respondents to rank 100 cities based on key performance indicators in categories such as living, working, studying, visiting, retiring, and investing. Additionally, respondents were invited to associate specific attributes with each city from a list of 45 options grouped under seven pillars, including Business & Investment and Culture & Heritage.

Singapore’s overall ranking was largely driven by its performance in the business and investment pillar, where it placed third globally. This pillar measures perceptions such as ease of doing business, strength of the economy, and support for start-ups. The city also scored well for low levels of crime and violence.

Alex Haigh, managing director for Asia Pacific at Brand Finance, praises Singapore as the “crown jewel” of the ASEAN region in terms of city branding. The top five cities in the index were London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Dubai, with London retaining its position as the world’s leading city brand. This latest ranking further cements Singapore’s reputation as a highly desirable and well-regarded city.
