Pan Pacific Hotels Group has recently announced the addition of Gurney Bay Hotel in Penang, Malaysia to its portfolio. The new hotel, which is operated under the group’s Parkroyal brand, boasts 368 rooms and is the seventh hospitality property to be owned by Pan Pacific in Malaysia. The hotel, which was acquired in February, is one of the group’s latest additions to their expanding portfolio.

With its official acquisition on September 1st, the group aims to embark on a phased soft renovation of the existing Gurney Bay hotel. Situated along Gurney Bay (formerly Gurney Drive) on Penang’s coastline, the hotel offers stunning views of the sea and Georgetown. According to Choe Peng Sum, the CEO of Pan Pacific Hotels Group, the new Gurney Bay Hotel, located near Georgetown’s city center, will be a great complement to the group’s Parkroyal Penang Resort in Batu Ferringhi’s beachfront area. Furthermore, both hotels are poised to benefit from the expansion of Penang International Airport, which is set to become Malaysia’s second-largest airport after Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The recent acquisition of Gurney Bay Hotel further cements Pan Pacific’s commitment to expanding its presence in Malaysia. Notably, the group has also recently opened the Parkroyal A’Famosa Melaka Resort in February.
