An opportunity to own a piece of history is now available with the sale of Villa Orsucci, an 18th-century villa located in the Tuscan region of Lucca, Italy. This magnificent property, once owned by Caroline Bonaparte, the sister of Napoleon I, boasts over 3,200 sq m of land, including a main villa, an annexe, a private church, and more than 6 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds, complete with swimming pools, gravel paths, and additional outbuildings.
Market by the prestigious Italian agency Lionard Luxury Real Estate, the asking price for this extraordinary estate has not been disclosed. While the origins of the villa date back to the 16th century, it was transformed into a stately manor by its owner in the 18th century. Coriolano Orsucci, an Italian silk merchant, commissioned the renowned Baroque architect Filippo Juvara to renovate and expand the property.
The villa then passed into the hands of Caroline Bonaparte in 1836, after she purchased it from its previous owner. Bonaparte, who was once the Queen of Naples and the younger sister of Napoleon, retained ownership of the villa until her death in 1839.
The main villa on the estate boasts three stories, as well as an attic and basement. Spanning approximately 2,500 sq m, it includes a grand central living room, multiple bedrooms, kitchens, and dining areas. A true highlight of the property is the double-height hall adorned with two large paintings from 1710, believed to have been brought to the villa by Bonaparte herself. The villa also contains other stunning period furniture, tapestries, and stucco decorations.
In addition to the main villa, the estate also features a restored annexe with five bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom. In total, Villa Orsucci offers 10 luxurious bedrooms.
Located in the midst of scenic rolling hills, the villa is only a short distance from Lucca’s town center and just an hour away from Florence. Lionard suggests that prospective buyers may also be interested in purchasing the stables and farmer’s house, located on an adjacent 15,000 sq m of land. These additional properties can be purchased separately from Villa Orsucci.
