Dubai has once again taken the top spot in the Savills Executive Nomad Index, solidifying its position as a leading destination for remote business leaders. This marks the second consecutive year that Dubai has claimed the number one spot, while Abu Dhabi has also retained its second-place ranking for the second year in a row. This is closely followed by Malaga in third place, Miami in fourth, and Lisbon in fifth, highlighting the growing appeal of these locations for executive nomads.

The Savills Executive Nomad Index evaluates 30 destinations based on their attractiveness and accessibility for long-term remote workers. The rankings take into account factors such as internet speed, air connectivity, climate stability, prime residential market prices, and overall quality of life, with the combined total determining the overall ranking.

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai boasts the most extensive flight network, while Abu Dhabi leads in terms of internet speed. These factors, along with tax efficiency, lifestyle, safety, and business-friendly environment, make the UAE the top destination for executive nomads, according to Andrew Cummings, head of Savills Residential Agency in the Middle East.

As the global employment market becomes increasingly mobile, executive nomads have emerged as a distinct and influential group of remote-working professionals. With the help of technology, these individuals – often business founders, senior managers, or entrepreneurs – are choosing destinations that offer both connectivity and a high quality of life.

This year, Savills expanded its index to include destinations that have recently implemented visa routes for long-term remote workers, such as Tokyo (11th place) and Berlin (28th). According to Savills, these cities are not only major economic centers but also vibrant cultural hubs.

Vancouver (18th) and Auckland (9th) have also been included in the index as they are important regional business hubs. “The landscape for executive nomads is changing,” says Kelcie Sellers, associate director of Savills World Research, “with countries like Canada and New Zealand offering long-term visitor visas that have been revised to allow for fully remote employment during the entire length of an individual’s stay.”
