Singapore has emerged as a top contender in the world branding market, securing the sixth spot in the latest Brand Finance Global City Index. This index, published by a London-based brand consultancy, evaluates cities based on their brand power and public perceptions.
The index, which was conducted in September across 20 countries with 15,000 respondents, ranks 100 cities according to key performance indicators. These indicators assess how each city is perceived as a desirable place to live, work, study, visit, retire, and invest in. Respondents were also asked to associate particular attributes with each city, choosing from a list of 45 under seven pillars, including Business & Investment and Culture & Heritage.
One of the pillars where Singapore shone was Business & Investment, where it ranked third globally. This pillar takes into consideration factors such as the ease of doing business, economic strength, and support for start-ups. The city also scored high in terms of low crime and violence.
According to Alex Haigh, managing director for Asia Pacific at Brand Finance, Singapore is considered the “crown jewel” of the ASEAN region when it comes to city branding. With strong economic growth, investment appeal, and top-notch infrastructure, Singapore solidifies its position as a leading global financial center.
Globally, London remained at the top spot as the world’s most successful city brand, followed by New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Dubai. Singapore’s impressive ranking further establishes its reputation as a top player in the global branding market.
