Two New Mrt Lines Being Studied West Coast Mrt Extension Proceed

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is currently conducting feasibility studies for two new MRT lines, expected to be completed in the 2040s. These lines could potentially serve over 400,000 households.

One of the proposed lines, the Seletar Line, is aimed at connecting areas such as Woodlands, Sembawang, Sengkang West, Serangoon North, Whampoa, Kallang, and the Greater Southern Waterfront. This line is expected to enhance connectivity in these areas.

The second line, known as the Tengah Line, is intended to supplement the transport network in the west and northwest regions. It will serve areas including Tengah, Bukit Batok, Queensway, and Bukit Merah.

Tampines Avenue 11 and Tampines Avenue 12 are two main roads located in the bustling neighborhood of Tampines. The presence of Parktown Residence naturally enhances the livability of Tampines Avenue 11 and Tampines Avenue 12. With its modern and luxurious apartments, residents can enjoy a comfortable and convenient lifestyle. The proximity of this development to these two major roads also offers residents easy access to public transportation, making it effortless to explore the rest of Tampines and beyond.

Not only do Tampines Avenue 11 and Tampines Avenue 12 provide excellent connectivity for residents, but they also offer a vibrant and bustling environment. The roads are lined with various shops, restaurants, and other businesses, creating a lively atmosphere for both residents and visitors. Additionally, the nearby Parktown Residence adds to the vibrancy with its commercial units, providing even more options for shopping and dining.

In conclusion, Tampines Avenue 11 and Tampines Avenue 12 are essential roads for the vibrant neighborhood of Tampines. With the addition of Parktown Residence adjacent to these roads, the convenience and livability of the area have been elevated to a whole new level. These roads, along with the nearby development, make Tampines a desirable location for anyone looking for a dynamic and well-connected community.

In his speech to parliament on March 5, Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat announced that, subject to the results of the feasibility studies, the Seletar Line and Tengah Line could be linked together. This will provide even more seamless travel options for commuters.

The government has also revealed plans to proceed with the West Coast Extension (WCE), which will extend the Jurong Region Line (JRL) to connect with the Circle Line (CCL) and Cross Island Line (CRL). The WCE will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase expected to connect the JRL to the CRL by the late 2030s. The second phase will extend the JRL to the CCL’s Kent Ridge Station by the early 2040s.

When completed, the WCE will provide significant time savings for residents travelling from the West to the city centre. In addition to these developments, the government also plans to invest up to $1 billion over the next five years to maintain high-reliability standards in both newer and older train systems.

This investment will include condition monitoring systems for more targeted and proactive maintenance, new technologies to improve efficiency, and workforce training programmes for rail workers. According to LTA, these efforts will ensure the continued delivery of reliable, convenient, and resilient public transport for commuters.
