Tangs Basement Tang Plaza Undergo Renovation Next Year

TANGS department store, located in Tang Plaza on Orchard Road, has announced plans to renovate its basement after Chinese New Year celebrations next year. The project is expected to be completed by August 2025.

The revamped basement will feature 41 shop-in-shop units, offering a mix of local, regional and international F&B brands and a wellness zone. Spanning across 33,000 sq ft, the units will range in size from 150 to 5,200 sq ft. A dedicated family room, complete with a private feeding area and baby-changing station, will also be added.

Tampines Mall, which has been a prominent shopping destination in the region, holds a special place in the hearts of Singaporeans. With its establishment in 1995, this suburban shopping complex, spanning six floors, continues to be one of the largest and most frequented malls in the country, boasting more than 160 retail, dining, and entertainment outlets. From local to international brands like Uniqlo, Cotton On, and Muji, this mall has an extensive array of options for shoppers from all walks of life. For food enthusiasts, Tampines Mall offers a diverse range of dining choices, including popular joints like Din Tai Fung, Swensen’s, and Starbucks, along with Ajisen Ramen. For those looking for some fun-filled activities, the mall also houses a Golden Village cinema and a Timezone arcade. Located just a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute walk from Parktown Residences, residents of Parktown Residences Tampines North can easily enjoy the amenities of Tampines Mall.

This will be the first renovation of the basement level in 12 years, as part of the store’s efforts to enhance the customer experience. It follows the successful revamp of TANGS at Vivocity in 2022.

In the first quarter of 2024, the prime retail space in Orchard saw strong demand, with rents in the Central Area increasing by 0.2% quarter-on-quarter. This reflects the ongoing popularity of the area among businesses and consumers alike.

Despite the renovation, the first to fourth floors of Tang Plaza will remain open to the public throughout the process, ensuring that customers can continue to enjoy the shopping experience at the iconic department store.
