Sla Signs Skills Development Partnership Mou Bhutan Pledges Support Smu Research Urban Heat

SLA sells State property at 5 Kadayanallur Street for $160,000.AdvertisementThe Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has signed a partnership with Bhutan, and has also pledged its support to the Singapore Management University (SMU) for research projects on climate change and urban challenges. These collaborations were announced at the Singapore Geospatial Forum, organised by SLA, as part of the 9th World Cities Summit, held from June 2 to 4 at Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore. At the event, an MOU was signed between the National Land Commission Secretariat of Bhutan and SLA to collaborate on skills development and establish a comprehensive land administration framework to support Bhutan’s national development. The MOU will also explore opportunities to enhance Bhutan’s geospatial capabilities. It was signed by Tshering Gyaltshen Penjor, secretary of NLCS, and Thong Wai Lin, deputy chief executive of SLA. In addition, SLA has formed an agreement with SMU’s College of Integrative Studies (CIS) and Urban Institute (UI) to collaborate on leveraging geodata for research projects on climate change and urban challenges. This includes a multi-disciplinary research project called Cooling Singapore 2.0, led by the Singapore-based ETH Centre in partnership with SMU, Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, TUMCREATE, National University of Singapore, and Cambridge University. Cooling Singapore 2.0 is dedicated to developing solutions to address urban heat challenges. SLA has stated that its involvement in this project will contribute to developing a strong geospatial talent pipeline through various activities and opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate research. The MOU for this collaboration was signed by Professor Elvin Lim, dean of CIS; associate professor Orlando Woods, director of UI; Thong Wai Lin, deputy chief executive of SLA; and Sin Lye Chong, assistant chief executive of SLA. These partnerships align with SLA’s goal of expanding its global partnerships and enhancing geospatial capabilities to achieve social, community, and sustainability outcomes.
