Keppel, a global asset manager and operator, recently announced that its latest data centre in Singapore, Keppel DC Singapore 8, has been awarded the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) highest green accolade, the Green Mark Platinum Award. The six-storey data centre, located at 82 Genting Lane, boasts advanced equipment and designs that reduce water consumption, as well as features to improve energy efficiency in its data hall cooling and facility management systems.
Currently under construction, Keppel DC Singapore 8 is expected to be completed in phases with the first phase set to be ready for service in the third quarter of 2024. The data centre will be operated and managed by Keppel’s Connectivity Division and is already fully leased to clients from various sectors including cloud services, internet enterprise, and telecommunications.
This data centre is part of the Keppel Data Centre campus, which consists of three planned complexes. The first complex, Keppel DC Singapore 7, was also awarded the BCA-Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) Green Mark Platinum Award in 2022. The entire campus has an impressive overall power usage effectiveness of 1.3. Funding for the first two complexes was provided by Keppel’s private fund, Alpha Data Centre Fund, managed by Keppel Fund Management. The leasehold of the site is held by Memphis 1, a joint venture between Keppel and Cuscaden Peak Investments with a 60:40 stake.
