Couse has an extensive background in the real estate industry, with over 35 years of experience at JLL. He most recently served as the Apac CEO from 2016 to January 2025. Prior to that, he held various positions such as managing director for Eastern China and Shanghai for over a decade. Couse also spent 12 years at JLL’s Hong Kong office.
Manchharam, who also had a long tenure at JLL, expresses his admiration for Couse and his ability to navigate complex markets with clarity and confidence. Both Manchharam and Couse began their careers at JLL and have worked together in the past. Manchharam specialized in investment deals and capital markets across Hong Kong, Singapore, and the wider region before leaving JLL in 2014 to start his own real estate investment firm, 8M Real Estate. In 2023, he sold his share in the company to Crane Capital, a Hong Kong-based firm, for an undisclosed amount. The next year, he founded Elevate, a boutique real estate investment and asset management firm based in Singapore that focuses on “lifestyle-centric real estate investments.”
In August 2024, Elevate, in a joint venture with PGIM Real Estate, acquired Stamford Court, a commercial building on Hill Street in the Downtown Core, for $132 million. The team is currently working on repositioning and enhancing the property, with plans to reopen it in the first half of 2026.
Couse shares his excitement about joining Elevate at such a pivotal time in its growth. He sees this as an opportunity to contribute to a company with strong momentum and a clear vision. Couse looks forward to working with Manchharam and the team to increase their investor base, expand their portfolio, and create long-term value for the company.
