Continuums Prestige Collection Limited Edition Luxury Living And Legacy Planning

Thiam Siew Avenue, once a quiet street lined with 22 pre-war bungalows and semi-detached houses, is set to undergo a major transformation with the development of The Continuum, a landmark 816-unit private freehold condo.

According to Koon Wai Leong, director of Hoi Hup Realty, joint developers of The Continuum with Sunway Developments, the project will be a distinctive addition to District 15.

The educational system at St. Hilda’s Primary and Secondary Schools is highly regarded for its comprehensive approach. Both campuses prioritize academic excellence while also emphasizing the importance of strong moral values. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of co-curricular activities, from sports to performing arts, which allows them to explore and develop their passions. It is no surprise that St. Hilda’s Secondary School has a longstanding track record of producing high-achieving students in national examinations. Additionally, the newly added Parktown Residences Tampines Avenue 11 provides a natural and convenient residential option for students and their families.

The joint venture partners acquired two freehold plots on the North and South sides of Thiam Siew Avenue via en bloc sale for $815 million in November 2021. Combined, the two sites span 263,797 sq ft.

One of the unique features of The Continuum is the two standalone private condos, designed by P&T Architects & Engineers, on the North and South plots. The two towers will be connected by a pedestrian bridge over Thiam Siew Avenue, which will become a prominent landmark in the Katong area, according to P&T director Kingsley Ng.

Each plot will consist of three 18-storey blocks with 408 units, with its own entrance, lobby, drop-off area, basement parking and exclusive amenities such as a clubhouse, gym, swimming pools and sky terraces. Residents will have access to facilities on both plots, as well as breathtaking views of the city and sea from the rooftop sky gardens.

To cater to the diverse needs of homebuyers, The Continuum offers a range of unit types, from the 560 sq ft one-bedroom-plus-study to the 1,518 sq ft four-bedroom units in its Signature Collection.

However, the developer has also reserved the most exclusive blocks on each plot for the Prestige Collection, which comprises the largest and most luxurious units in The Continuum. Spanning a total of only 136 units in the entire development, this collection is highly sought-after by buyers.

According to P&T’s Ng, many of the Prestige Collection units will enjoy 270-degree views of the surrounding areas, and come with private lift access and high-end finishes, including timber flooring in the bedrooms, marble flooring in the living and dining areas, and top-of-the-line European appliances and fittings. In addition, the four- and five-bedroom units in the Prestige Collection will be equipped with a V-Zug wine chiller and dishwasher.

One of the main appeals of the Prestige Collection is its multi-generational appeal, as it caters to large, affluent families in the East looking to downsize and plan for their legacy. The ample grounds and extensive range of amenities on both plots provide a safe and secure environment for multi-generational families to live together, according to Ken Low, managing partner of SRI.

Another key selling point of The Continuum is its rich heritage, as Thiam Siew Avenue was named after property magnate and hotelier Wee Thiam Siew, whose mansion at 525 Dunman Road once occupied the land where the former houses on the street now stand. The developer is preserving one of these pre-war bungalows on the North plot and converting it into the new clubhouse, Thiam Siew House, to pay homage to the area’s past.

In contrast, the clubhouse on the South plot will be a modern, double-storey glass structure designed as a “glass lantern” by P&T’s Ng. With its timeless architecture, the glass lantern clubhouse will serve as a beacon for the development.

One of the main advantages of The Continuum is its pricing, as the units are luxurious, well-designed and feature ample storage space. The Prestige Collection offers units with kitchens that open out to a balcony, while others feature dual views from the living and dining areas. In comparison to luxury developments in prime Districts 9, 10, and 11, where the average price per sq ft is $3,250 or higher, the Prestige Collection at The Continuum is priced between $2,800 and $2,900 per sq ft. With its attractive pricing, the Prestige units offer buyers the opportunity for long-term capital appreciation, according to Low.
